All students must go through the HIPAA training and pass the quiz before the first day of class. This training includes two WebCT courses: HIPAA Privacy and HIPAA Security. Before you can access these courses, you must self-register for each of them.
1. To self-register, goto http://webct.umdnj.edu:8900/webct/homearea/mywebct_manager.pl?SELF_REGISTER+OBC_HIPAA04_U3 in your browser. You may be prompted for your WebCT ID and Password (which is the same ID and Password you used to access my.UMDNJ).
Note: If you get an error message stating that "Your WebCT ID matches a User Name in the course," you have already self-registered. See How to return to the course after self-registering, below.
2. Now you must fill out some information about yourself to continue. Select the correct information for all appropriate categories, such as Affiliation, Primary Responsibility, Today’s Date, and your Department in SHRP. When you’re finished, click Continue.
3. The HIPAA course has now been added. Now click the Go to Course button.
4. Remember, completing the HIPAA course and passing the quiz MUST be done before classes begin, so it is recommended that you complete it now. To start the training click the HIPAA course link and just follow the instructions.
5. After completing HIPAA Privacy you should complete the HIPAA Security course by going to http://webct.umdnj.edu:8900/webct/homearea/mywebct_manager.pl?SELF_REGISTER+OBC_Security_U3 in your browser. Follow the same steps as above and finish the training.
If you've already self-registered for either the HIPAA Privacy or HIPAA Security course and need to go back into it to complete it, you can access it by logging into WebCT and finding it under the Courses listing.
