UMDNJ - Department of Rehabilitation & Movement Science

Welcome to UMDNJ's Doctor of Physical Therapy Programs

Physical Therapists (PTs) are health care professionals who diagnose and treat individuals of all ages, from newborns to the very oldest, who have medical problems or other health related conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives. PT’s examine each individual and develop a plan using treatment techniques to:

  • Promote the ability to move
  • Reduce pain
  • Restore function
  • Prevent disability

In addition to managing patient care, a PT is:

  • A Researcher
  • An Educator
  • A Consultant
  • An Administrator

There are two Entry-Level Doctor of Physical Therapy programs offered through UMDNJ's School of Health Related Professions. The PT Newark program is located on the main campus in Newark and the PT Stratford program is located on the Stratford Campus.
