PHYA5249, PHYA5349, PHYA6139, PHYA6239 Physician Assistant Clerkships (12, 8, 12, 12 credits)

A series of clinical experiences offered in various medical specialties which are conducted in hospitals, clinics and private medical practices. Through close supervision, students will have the opportunity to develop clinical skills, including the understanding of the management of common illnesses. The clerkships include a two-hour bi-monthly practicum seminar which is devoted to discussion of clinical cases, special lectures, discussion of issues in medical ethics, and presentation of articles from medical journals.

The Physician Assistant Clerkships consists of a minimum of fifty-three (53) up to fifty-five (55) weeks of clinical rotations. There are ten (10) required rotations and one (1) elective rotation. Students are assigned to clinical sites for all required rotations. Students may choose their elective rotations. In addition, there is approximately nine (9) to eleven (11) weeks of vacation time scheduled throughout the clinical clerkship phase of the program.
