Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Psychology

 

 

Program Overview


This program offers a dual major in psychiatric rehabilitation and psychology. The program will prepare your for a variety of professional roles, for career advancement and for graduate studies. As with the AS program, fieldwork assignments are an important element of the curriculum. Potential careers for graduates of this program include case manager, residential counselor, mental health counselor, habilitation counselor, employment specialist, job coach. In addition, this joint degree includes a psychology major that prepares you for several options for graduate school. In addition to 6 credits earned in the B.S. program can count towards either the M.S. in Psychiatric Rehabilitation or Rehabilitation Counseling offered by UMDNJ School of Health Related Professions (SHRP). The Bachelor's degree program is a dual major, joint degree program. You will major in both Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Psychology. Satisfactory completion of all requirements will result in earning a joint degree from Kean University, Felician College, or Georgian Court University and UMDNJ-SHRP.

For those who are already graduates of the AS Program in Psychosocial Rehabilitation are eligible to apply to the Dual Major Program at the same time that they are applying to Kean University, Felican College, or Georgian Court University and can obtain application materials from the UMDNJ-SHRP Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation.

A minimum of 124 credits are needed to graduate. You will take all general education classes at Kean University, Felician College, or Georgian Court University.. You will take your psychiatric rehabilitation classes at UMDNJ-SHRP. You may take course work on either a full-time or part-time basis.
