Entry Level Curriculum: Year Three

Medical Screening and Differential Diagnosis – PTDR7390

Medical Screening for Physical Therapists  – PTDR7390

This course teaches students to differentiate conditions that require medical intervention from those that require physical therapy intervention.  Students learn a systematic approach to medical screening via diagnostic interviewing‚ recognition of pain patterns and types‚ associated signs and symptoms of systemic pathology‚ and review of systems. Lectures build from patient scenarios that emphasize client symptoms rather than medical diagnosis. Students also gain experience composing letters to a referring physician outlining concerns identified in the medical screening process. (2 credits)
