Psychosocial Issues of Illness and Disablement
PTDR5610
This course will cover stress and its contributions to wellness
and illness; sociocultural and psychological factors
that affect interactions with patients families and caregivers;
the influence of verbal and nonverbal communication
skills on interactions with patients families and caregivers;
and intervention strategies that affect patient recovery processes.
Students will participate in discussions reaction assignments
and case studies to explore their own preferences and to identify
strategies for optimal patient management. (1 credit)
