Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy I
PTDR7310
The focus of this course is on the acquisition and integration
of knowledge and skills involved in developing and implementing
a care plan for patients with musculoskeletal conditions based on
sound evaluative findings. Lectures emphasize the comprehension
of procedures and techniques related to the evaluation and management
of current and potential musculoskeletal dysfunction. Laboratory
sessions address skill development for performing examination and
manual treatment techniques safely and effectively and integration
of these techniques with therapeutic exercise massage and
physical agents. Lectures and labs also emphasize developing
problem solving skills the context of evaluating and managing the
patient with musculoskeletal conditions. This course is the
first of two. It introduces the student to the principles
of physical therapy evaluation and management of the musculoskeletal
patient and applies these principles to the lower and upper
extremities. (3 credits)
