Entry Level Curriculum: Year Two
Motor Learning and Control PTDR7160
This course consists of both a lecture and seminar format. There
are three major topics addressed during the course. One unit explores
issues related to neuroplasticity recovery of function and
motor learning following brain damage. In a second unit
students are introduced to the techniques currently available to
measure the kinematics and outcomes of movement and explore the
principles that are most important for learning new movement skills.
Students have an opportunity to apply those principles to particular
patient problems. A third unit explores the historical and
current theories of motor control. Topics related to control
processes and mechanisms of skilled movement are addressed. (2 credits)
