Sandra L. Kaplan PT PhD
Dr.
Kaplan received a BS degree in Physical Therapy from the University
of Connecticut in 1978 an MS in Allied Health from Ohio State
University in 1984 and her PhD in Pathokinesiology from New
York University in 1991. She is Assistant Director and Associate
Professor in the Program in Physical Therapy and Codirector
of the Newark Project. She previously held academic appointments
at West Virginia University and Long Island University and
was listed in Whos Who Among Americas Teachers in 2000.
Dr. Kaplans academic and research interests are in pediatric
rehabilitation neuroscience motor control and clinical
outcome measures. Dr. Kaplan has lectured frequently on the development
of clinical outcome measures has served as a research consultant
to the Department of Rehabilitation at University Hospital
and is in the process of writing a book "Outcome Measures
in Physical Therapy Practice" at the request of F.A.
Davis publishers. She has served on the national task force to develop
outcome measure recommendations for the APTA Guide to Physical Therapist
Practice. She has been an abstract reviewer for the APTA Scientific
Meeting participated on the Neurology Section task force on
Integrating Theory into Practice and was coeditor of
the Oct. 2000 Neurology Report journal for a special edition on
Quality of Life. Dr. Kaplan serves as an educational consultant
for the APTA Section on Education and as an onsite evaluator
for the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education
(CAPTE).
Dr. Kaplan teaches part of the Clinical Integration series
Scientific Inquiry IV: Outcomes Measurement and Neuromotor Processes:
Brain and Behavior.
