II. ACCOUNTABILITY
The Assistant Dean for Enrollment Services is responsible for compliance with this policy. Program Directors are responsible for providing advisement which is consistent with the policy.
III. POLICY
Applicants to programs offered by SHRP who did not graduate from a secondary school or college in the United States are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Individuals who received their secondary and/or college education in the following countries are not required to take the TOEFL exam: Australia, Canada except Quebec Province, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, and the United Kingdom. Individuals participating in a SHRP joint program with another educational institution are not required to take the TOEFL unless required by the partner educational institution. Individual programs however reserve the right to require the TOEFL exam as part of the admissions criteria even if the TOEFL is not required by the partner institution.
Acceptable scores for TOEFL are as follows: 550 and above for paper based test and 79-80 for the internet based (iBT) examination. (Programs may establish additional language proficiency requirements and/or higher acceptance scores than those stated in the policy). All results must be forwarded directly to SHRP from the testing agency.
