- Americans are living longer than ever.
- By the year 2080, the number of elderly will double to 70 million.
- The elderly comprise a diverse group and live in all regions of the country.
- These increases are accompanied by a concomitant increase in the incidence of chronic disease.
The demand for competent qualified health care practitioners to provide care for the elderly becomes critical.
The School of Health Related Professions (SHRP), an innovator in distance education for health professionals, and NJISA, a leader in preparing health professionals to better care for the growing elderly population, have partnered to offer the Graduate Certificate in Aging.
This project was supported by funds from the Division of State, Community, and Public Health (DSCPH), Bureau of Health Professions (BHPr), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), under grant #D37HP03151-01-00, Graduate Certificate in Aging, $391,310.00.
