Program Admissions

Prospective students may apply to the Master of Science in Health Sciences either

OR

 

  • Additionally, prospective students may contact the Office of Admissions at shrpadm@umdnj.edu and request that an application packet be mailed to them.

When applying to the Master of Science in Health Sciences program, prospective students are required to:

 

  • Request an OFFICIAL transcript from the Institution where the bachelor’s degree was received and have it sent to the UMDNJ-SHRP Office of Admissions at the address provided below. A minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 is required.

  • Prepare a personal statement delineating how the applicant is expected to apply the degree to his/her professional goals. 

  • Possess proficiency in written communication to successfully complete frequent writing assignments, exams, and papers required in online courses, and a written report of the graduate project.

  • Provide two completed recommendation forms addressing academic and professional abilities.  The forms may be submitted in one of two ways:

a.   The recommendation form may be sent by the recommender to the Office of Admissions at the address listed below. 

OR

b.   The recommendation form may be included with the application. However, each form must be placed in a separate sealed envelope with the signature of the recommender across the envelope’s seal.

  • Submit the application fee with the application.

  • Additional requirements for applicants for the Clinical Laboratory Sciences Track:
      • professional certification in the clinical laboratory sciences from an acceptable US certifying agency (NCA or ASCP) and/or state license to practice clinical laboratory science in the US is required.
      • proficiency in written communication to successfully complete frequent writing assignments, exams, and papers required in online courses, and a written report of the graduate project.

  • Additional requirements for applicants for the CMR track Disease Management:
      • An official transcript and transcript evaluation must be submitted from CMRI to the UMDNJ – SHRP Office of Admissions.
      • An applicant must have completed a minimum of 26 CMR credits before he/she can apply to the program.

  • Mail the application and supplemental information to:

Foreign Applicants

For prospective students educated outside of the United States, complete steps 1 – 7 above AND provide the following additional documents:

  • Evaluation of the foreign transcript. An evaluation may be obtained by contacting the World Education Services, Inc. at www.wes.org  or by e-mail at info@wes.org Refer to the last page of the printed application form for the contact information of the WES.

  • Results of test scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam. A minimum score of 79 – 80 on the Internet exam or 550 on the paper exam is required.  Refer to the last page of the application for the contact information for the TOEFL.

Application Deadlines

The official deadline each year for applications is March 1 for fall admission and October 1 for Spring admission. Applications will not be reviewed unless all required documents are submitted by these deadlines.

Applicants are notified of the admissions decision by mail.
