The dental hygiene full-time curriculum consists of four semesters of classroom and clinical coursework. All classroom coursework is scheduled during weekdays, but UMDNJ-SHRP offers flexibility in clinic scheduling, with Saturday and evening clinics available for the convenience of students and patients.

As a prerequisite for admission to the program, students are required to complete six college level courses ( twenty-two credits) by the application deadline. (A&P I, A& P II, Microbiology, Chemistry I, English I, Psychology I)

In addition to the required prerequisite courses, the following four (4) general education courses: History/Math ( please refer to individual requirements for the affiliate through which the application is submitted); Public Speaking; Introduction to Sociology; and English Composition II must be completed with a grade of "C" or above PRIOR to the start of the dental portion of the Program.

General Education Requirements: may be taken at BCC, ECC, RVCC, TESC and UCC (or another college, as long as residency requirements for the School of application have been met).
