Campus and Clinical Facilities
Dental hygiene students in the UMDNJ-SHRP program pursue their education in New Jersey’s largest and foremost center for health education, research, and service at UMDNJ’s $200 million campus in Newark, NJ. The campus includes a medical science building, a dental school, a behavioral health center and a teaching hospital, all of which are interconnected. The Newark campus is also the home of the George F. Smith Library of Health Sciences, a major resource for dental and biomedical literature in New Jersey and the Northeast. Classes are also held on UMDNJ’s newest campus in Scotch Plains where the Allied Dental Education offices are housed. The Scotch Plains campus is connected to other university campuses via state-of-the-art telecommunications technology. Other UMDNJ campuses include Stratford, New Brunswick, Piscataway, Camden. and Somerset.

TransportationThe Scotch Plains campus, located in Union County, 1776 Raritan Road, Scotch Plains, NJ. 07076 close to the Garden State Parkway (exit 135) and US Highway 22. A car is recommended for travel to the Scotch Plains campus. Click here for map.
The Essex County College campus in Newark can be easily accessed by car or public transportation. By car, it is accessible from the New Jersey Turnpike exit 15W to I-280 East. Click here for directions. The UMDNJ Newark campus is easily reached by public transportation from New Jersey and New York City.
