Selection of prospective students from the applicant pool is the responsibility of the admission committee, comprised of faculty members , students and professional nurse-midwives from the community. The successful candidate is chosen based on her general academic ability, the focus of her experience in maternal health care, priority in labor & delivery, the maturity of her clinical judgement and her ability to think clearly and rationally under stress. Since nurse-midwifery is physically demanding, we strongly support candidates with the stamina needed to work long irregular hours.
UMDNJ-SHRP does not discriminate against qualified individuals on the basis of sex, race, creed, national origin and/or disability. The Disability Compliance Coordinator may be reached at 973-972-0044.
