BS/MS (3+3) PROGRAM
UMDNJ PA PROGRAM AND SAINT PETER'S COLLEGE
A BS/MS degree program, jointly sponsored
by UMDNJ and Saint Peter's College (SPC)
, is also offered. This 6-year program includes three years of undergraduate
liberal arts and basic science education. Students may apply to the professional
program in April of their second year by contacting the Physician Assistant
Program at (732) 235-4444 for an application. Personal interviews will
be required of those applicants being considered for admission. The interview
will serve to determine the applicant's emotional and intellectual maturity,
ability to communicate and the potential to achieve career satisfaction
within the Physician Assistant role. Applicants must have an overall GPA
of 3.0 on a 4-point scale where 4.0 equals an "A." In cases where individuals
may show high potential by improved performance, exceptions to this requirement
may be considered. Please note that acceptance by SPC does not
guarantee acceptance by the PA Program.
All applications must be received by June 1st
and final notices of acceptance will be made by August
1st . If the applicant is accepted into the program, it
will be contingent on maintaining a 3.0 GPA through the end of the third
undergraduate year, and all requirements for the undergraduate degree
are met before the beginning of the fourth year.
Students who are accepted into the professional program
will begin this phase at the beginning of their senior year. At the end
of the senior year, these students will receive a Bachelor of Science
degree conferred by SPC. After completion of the remaining two years of
the Physician Assistant Program, graduates will receive a Master of Science
degree awarded by UMDNJ. For more details concerning the undergraduate
