The PA Program is now participating with the Central Application Service for Physician Assistants (CASPA) (www.CASPAonline.org) for the 2009-2010 admissions cycle. Before you submit your application through CASPA, please read all of the Admissions Requirements below . Please note: there is NO supplemental application. The application and all supporting documents must be submitted to CASPA by October 1st.

The following requirements must be met
in order to
obtain admission into the MS Physician Assistant Program:
|
- The applicant must have a Baccalaureate
degree or be in the process of obtaining their degree by May 2010.
|
- SAT scores are not required, however if you have taken them they may be submitted directly to the PA Program. The SAT Designated Institution Code is 2829.
|
- GRE scores are not
required unless you are interested in
the MS/MPH
program. The GRE scores
must be submitted to the School of Public
Health with your MPH application.
|
- If any of the prerequisite courses have been satisfied by taking a CLEP exam, the scores should be submitted directly to the PA Program. The CLEP Designated Institution Code is 2145.
|
- Prerequisites: Persons with incomplete prerequisites
may apply; however, they must state
how they will satisfy the prerequisites
by the end of the spring semester prior
to the start of the program. Please note: The applicant should have completed the prerequisite courses with a grade of "C" or better.
|
- The applicant must have an overall and science grade point average
of no less than 3.0 (on a scale where 4.0 equals A.) In cases
where individuals show high potential by improved performance, exceptions
to this requirement may be considered.
|
- The Committee is pleased to consider applications from out-of-state
candidates.
|
- Applicants to the MS program are advised to submit
their applications with supporting documents to CASPA as early as April 17th and no later than the PA Program deadline
of October 1st.

- Applicants to the MPH/MS program are advised to submit
their applications with supporting documents to CASPA as early as April 15th and no later than the PA Program deadline
of October 1st. Please note: a separate application/deadline is required by the School of Public
Health for the MPH program - See our MPH/MS
program description for more details.

- The applicant must submit three completed Recommendation Forms. It is preferable that one recommendation be prepared by a college instructor, one by an employment supervisor, and one by an individual who is thoroughly familiar with the applicant's general characteristics. He/she may be an instructor, counselor, community leader, etc.
|
- Interviews will be required of those applicants being considered for
admission. The determination is made following an initial screening
by the Admissions Committee. The interview will serve to identify
qualities, such as communication skills, motivation, and general interpersonal
skills. The applicant should demonstrate a clear understanding of the
PA role and how this fits into the applicant's career goals. The applicant
is reminded that competition is very keen for the available spaces. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee an invitation for an interview.

- Prior patient contact experience is considered desirable and applicants
with such experience will be given priority consideration but not to
the exclusion of applicants without such experience. The Program's Admissions
Committee is empowered to make admissions conditional upon completion
of a designated period of experience in the health related field for
a duration of not less than four (4) or more than twelve (12) weeks.

- Applicants who received their degrees
outside the USA are required to take
the TOEFL
exam. TOEFL
is currently administering the internet-based
(IB) and paper-based (PB) testing. A
minimum score of 100 (IB) or 600 (PB)
must be achieved. TOEFL scores should be submitted directly to CASPA. The TOEFL
Designated Institution Code is 3709.

- Once the interview process is complete and the class is selected, some applicants may be offered a spot on our
waiting list which we frequently utilize when applicants decline our
offer of acceptance.
