The following requirements must be met
in order to
obtain admission into the BA/MS
Physician Assistant Program:
|
- The applicant must be attending one of our affiliated
undergraduate institutions as a BA/MS
("3+3") student. Admittance
to one of these undergraduate institutions,
however, does not guarantee admittance
to the Physician Assistant Program.
|
- Applicants are advised to submit their applications with supporting documents by June 1st prior to the academic year for which
the application is made.
|
- SAT scores should be submitted directly to the PA Program. The SAT Designated Institution Code is 2829.
|
- GRE scores are not
required unless you are interested in
the MS/MPH
program. The GRE scores
must be submitted to the School of Public
Health with your MPH application.
|
- If any of the prerequisite courses have been satisfied by taking a CLEP exam, the scores should be submitted directly to the PA Program. The CLEP Designated Institution Code is 2145.
|
- The applicant must have an overall and science grade point average
of no less than 3.0 (on a scale where 4.0 equals A.)
|
- The applicant must submit three completed Recommendation Forms (provided
in Application package). It is preferable that one recommendation
be prepared by a college instructor, one by an employment supervisor,
and one by an individual who is thoroughly familiar with the applicant's
general characteristics. He/she may be an instructor, counselor, community
leader, etc. . .
Important: The Waiver of Access statement which is printed on
the Recommendation Form must be signed by the applicant. |
- Interviews will be required of those applicants being considered for
admission. Only the most competitive applicants will be interviewed. The determination is made following an initial screening
by the Admissions Committee. The interview will serve to identify
qualities, such as communication skills, motivation, and general interpersonal
skills. The applicant should demonstrate a clear understanding of the
PA role and how this fits into the applicant's career goals. The applicant
is reminded that competition is very keen for the available spaces.
|
- Prior patient contact experience is considered desirable and applicants
with such experience will be given priority consideration but not to
the exclusion of applicants without such experience. The Program's Admissions
Committee is empowered to make admissions conditional upon completion
of a designated period of experience in the health related field for
a duration of not less than four (4) or more than twelve (12) weeks.
|
|
- Final notices of acceptance will be made by August 1st . If the applicant is accepted into the program, it will be contingent on maintaining a 3.0 GPA through the end of the third undergraduate year, and all requirements for the undergraduate degree are met before the beginning of the fourth year.
