Summer Research Internship
- Must be Graduate Students
1. We expect
to be able to fund 5-6 Student Research
Interns this year.
2. Students may view the
project descriptions in the Dean's office(s)
up to May 11th. The Dean's office is located
on the 1st floor of the Stanley S. Bergen
Building in Newark. Please ask for Donna
Cifelli.
3. Students are required
to provide written notice to the faculty
member whose project they are interested
in by May 7th. Included in this document
should be their current program of study
and anticipated year of graduation. Preference
will be given to students who are not employed.
4. The Associate Dean for
Academic Affairs and Research will confirm
IRB approval after May 4th.
5. The student will call
to arrange an interview with the faculty
project director. After the interview, the
student will submit to the faculty member
a detailed summary of their responsibilities
pertaining to the research project. The
project director must evaluate the summary
description to determine whether the statement
matches the project description and whether
it is clear and well written.
6. The summary statement
signed by the student and faculty member
must be forwarded to the Associate Dean
for Academic Affairs and Research by May
21st.
7. In the event that more
projects are submitted than can be funded,
student preference will predominate. If
there are both more students and more projects
than can be accommodated by the budget,
the Committee on Research will assist the
Dean with selection of the projects to be
funded. Preference will be given to students
who are less than way through the Master's
program. The Dean's Office will notify both
the student and the faculty member and initiate
the process for student payment by June
1st.
8. Projects are anticipated
to be funded at the level of $2,000 for
a six to eight week period of work. One
half of the funds will be disbursed on or
about July 1st and the second half of the
stipend will be paid after completion of
the project and submission of the final
abstract of the project to Cherlyn Scantlebury.
