Geisler - Associate Professor
Ms. Geisler joined the University of Medicine
& Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) PA Program in January 2003 after spending
several years teaching on the faculty of the former UMDNJ/Seton Hall University
program based in Newark, NJ. Before entering teaching, Ms. Geisler practiced
clinically at the UMDNJ Student Health Services office. She is a 1997 honors
graduate of the UMDNJ/Rutgers PA Program and received her MS-PA degree from
UMDNJ in 1998. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Medical Humanities (D.M.H.)
degree from Drew University in Madison, NJ, which allows her the opportunity
to combine her love of medicine with her strong interest in patient-centered
health issues.
Her faculty responsibilities include directing
the Psychiatry and Clinical Correlations courses, as well as teaching physical
diagnosis, medical interviewing, health maintenance, and case-based learning.
She also mentors students completing their Master's projects in the Applied
Clinical Research course.
Ms. Geisler has authored several articles
for the Journal of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (JAAPA), one
of which won a 2002 American Academy of Physician Assistants Publishing Award.
She also enjoys lecturing at continuing medical education (CME) conferences,
and has participated as faculty at many such conferences since becoming a
PA. She serves on various committees within the New Jersey State Society of
Physician Assistants, as well as on committees within the University.
