Motion and Motor Control
Using kinematics, kinetics and EMG we are studying a variety of
motor behaviors. Currently there are two projects in this area:
We are studying sit-stand behavior from a developmental perspective.
We are interested in describing sit-to-stand behavior in healthy
people and then make comparisons with individuals with cerebral
palsy. Our ultimate objective is to identify the key kinematic and
kinetic deficiencies in the sit-to-stand transitions of individuals
with cerebral palsy to generate the appropriate intervention strategies
to reverse these deficits.
In collaboration with the Department of Orthopedics (Division of
Musculoskeletal oncology) we are evaluating the functional outcomes
of individuals following limb salvage surgery and endo-prosthestheic
reconstructions of the hip for proximal femoral sarcomas.
