Russell C. Smith, MS, LCPC

Assistant Professor
Mr. Smith has a Masters degree in Rehabilitation
Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University. He has worked
with programs for people with severe and persistent mental
illness for 22 years. These include positions as coordinator
of residential services, director of supported living services
and supervisor of a team of case managers affiliated with
a psychosocial day program. Direct clinical experience has
included crisis intervention services in Virginia , Maryland
and Alaska.
In addition to teaching undergraduate courses,
Mr. Smith is providing training, consultation and education
as part of the grant funded project at Greystone Park Psychiatric
Hospital . Other adjunct teaching responsibilities include
graduate courses for Southern New Hampshire University in
the Program for Community Mental Health. Mr. Smith has facilitated
and presented at regional workshops and conferences focusing
on housing and support needs for people with severe and persistent
mental illness, as well as providing consultation to the Virginia
Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance
Abuse Services.
